Overview
Yun Yeong-seon
Korean professional Go player Yun Yeong-seon who was promoted to 5 Dan in 2006 was the winner of the first Haojue Cup held in 2002 and has been the holder of the Women's Guksu title four times (1994-96 and 1998). The game between Hikaru Shindo and Korean Hon Suyon in the 75th and 76th chapters of the famous manga Hikaru no Go was a game actually played by Yun Yeong-seon (White) and Yi Cheong-Weon in February 3rd 1995.
As the author of four books "Think like a pro - Pae", "Think like a pro - Haengma" and "100 Tips for Amateur Players I-II" and with her enthusiasm and experience in the area of teaching she is one of the few professional players sought after in Europe. After marrying in September 2007 she now resides in Hamburg, Germany.
Activities
As the star guest of the 8th International Istanbul Go Open, Yun Yeong-seon will honor us with her presence during the tournament. As a part of the tournament she will be commenting on and observing games at random times and may be available on the tournament grounds for quick commentaries. Extra activities requiring registration such as simultaneous games and lectures have been scheduled before, during and after the tournament. Details can be found below.
Participation
Preregistration
Yun Yeong-seon has requested that the simultaneous games be limited to 8 persons per session. Due to this restriction preregistering participants who have never found a chance to play with a professional player will have priority over other participants. All participants will be allowed to observe the games and following commentaries. Participants who are not present at the venue 5 minutes prior to the start of their arranged game shall be replaced by the next available runner up. Participation by paying non-preregistrants is limited by capacity.
Participation fee
The participation fee for events held on the days of the tournament has been set at €5 and participation in all events including Friday has been set at €10 per person. Tournament registration fees are not included in the pricing.
